Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez has admitted his admiration for Barcelona playmaker Frenkie de Jong.
On Friday Enzo faced De Jong in their quarter-final clash, which Argentina won on penalties, sending the Netherlands out.
Enzo said he has always admired the former Ajax man.
“My reference in Europe is Frenkie de Jong, he can play anywhere in midfield, he’s a very complete player,” said Enzo a while back. Feelings that were confirmed in the game.
Barcelona are looking for a pivot and Enzo can play in that position. He does so in the 4-2-3-1 that Roger Schmidt’s Benfica use, although with Argentina he features more as an interior midfielder.
