Arsenal agreed to pay Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to leave for Barcelona on Monday.
The Gunners granted Aubameyang a free transfer on deadline day ahead of him joining Barcelona just minutes before the deadline fell.
The Times says to convince their former captain to leave, Arsenal gave him a golden handshake worth €8.3m.
The proposal was almost the remainder of his pay for the season and helps make up for the modest deal Aubameyang has accepted at Barca to fit inside their wage cap.
It’s understood Aubameyang will be paid by Barca €5,000-a-week to June.
