Barcelona president Laporta wanted Larsson, Schreuder to stay on

Barcelona were willing for sacked coach Ronald Koeman‘s assistants to stay on.

Esport 3 reports president Joan Laporta offered his assistants Alfred Schreuder and Henrik Larsson to be interim coaches in the days after he left.

Laporta sacked Koeman on the way back from the defeat at Rayo Vallecano. He asked the duo if they would want the role. They rejected it out of loyalty to Koeman. So Laporta had to turn elsewhere.

He picked B team coach Sergi Barjuan, who took the team to a win in Kiev and two draws in La Liga against Alaves and Celta Vigo.
