Dugarry tells Ajax captain De Ligt: You make me want to throw up

France World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry has slammed Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt.

The Dutch defender looked set to join Paris Saint-Germain after they met his revised financial demands and priced Barcelona out of a move.

But Juventus now appear to have stolen a march on their rivals after the player demanded a big-money buy-out clause in his contract which is no permitted in France.

Dugarry, who won the 1998 World Cup with France, has slammed the 19-year-old for his approach and placing too much emphasis on financial gain.

He told RMC Sport: “What is the idea? What is happening in your head? 12, 13, 14 or 15 million euros?

“At some point, what changes? You will have one more car, 50m² more in the apartment, 10 meters more for your boat.

“If it is a purely financial option, I stop, that makes me want to throw up.

“De Ligt, he’s excellent, he’s very good, but with a mentality like that, it will not last, it’s not possible.

“I congratulate the president (PSG), congratulate Leonardo, congratulate those who take the decisions.

“I’m tired of this new football. But De Ligt, at one time or another, commit yourself to a project with PSG.

“Even you have started not to commit to this project and to think of two doors ( the entrance and the exit).”
