Arsenal transfer news: Gunners ‘make serious approach’ for exciting Ligue 1 star

Arsenal have launched a “serious approach” for Guingamp forward Marcus Thuram according to a report in France, but it is claimed that the Gunners will have to fend off Borussia Dortmund’s interest if they want to sign him.

Forward Thuram – the son of France 1998 World Cup winning defender Lilian Thuram – has turned heads in a struggling Guingamp side this season, scoring nine goals.

And that has alerted several clubs to the talents of the 21-year-old, who has represented France at youth levels but was born in Parma in Italy, while his father played for the Serie A club.

Le 10 Sport in France claim to exclusively reveal that the Gunners and Dortmund are the two European clubs who have “launched serious approaches” for the forward, who has also been linked to other European giants.

They cite Dortmund’s previous successes in shopping in the Ligue 1 market, including the purchases of Ousmane Dembele, Raphael Guerreiro and current Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, the French market is also well-known to Gunners boss Unai Emery, who managed Paris Saint-Germain for two seasons prior to his move to Arsenal to replace Arsene Wenger last summer.
