Araujo hits back at Barcelona teammate Gundogan: I have codes and values

Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo has hit back at teammate Ilkay Gundogan today.

Gundogan rapped Araujo for his red card on Tuesday in their Champions League defeat at home to PSG.

At a function for his new book today, Araujo said: “I prefer to keep to myself what I think about the statements of Gündogan. I have codes and values that must be respected.”

He also said: “Sad about elimination, like all culés. We had in our hands to qualify ourselves and there is sadness. The play is fortuitous, it is 50 and 50. If the referee does not collect it, nothing happens but, if he charges it, he has to expel me.

“Responsible (for the loss), responsible, no. Obviously it conditions the game because we are left with ten, then there are many things about the game itself. When I leave it is an important condition because I know what I can contribute and help when I am on the pitch.

“I am grateful to the people who always send me messages when I left after the game.”
