A 4-4 draw? Liverpool’s clash with Man City backed to thrill

A blockbuster Premier League game awaits and the goals are expected to flow freely

Liverpool welcome Manchester City to Anfield on Monday morning (AEDT) as the current Premier League leaders look to increase their lead over last season’s champions.

City currently trail the Reds by six points after 11 league games, having pipped Jurgen Klopp’s men to the title last campaign by a single point.

While the Reds are yet to lose in the league this season, Pep Guardiola’s side are slight favourites to win the match with Sportsbet at $2.50 – Liverpool aren’t too far behind at $2.63 with a draw valued at $3.50.

So far 52 per cent of punters have backed the Reds to win at home with 27% tipping a draw and only 21% getting behind Man City.

Though the result is difficult to pick, a few brave punters are tipping an absolute goal-fest with four bets being placed on the game to finish 4-4 at odds of $201. Two customers have also backed Liverpool to edge out a high-scoring game 4-3.

The last time these two sides met in the league, Guardiola’s men claimed a decisive 2-1 win at the Etihad which would ultimately hand them the title at season’s end.

More goals could be expected this time around with the Reds defense yet to match last season’s high standards having not kept a clean sheet in their last eight matches in all competitions.

Man City’s attack meanwhile remains as hot as ever with the club’s 34 goals so far this campaign seven more strikes than the next highest scoring side in the Premier League.

All in all, Monday morning’s clash is shaping up to a massive game for both sides with plenty of action at both ends a strong possibility.
