Serie A clubs spend 55m euros less on agent fees in 2017 than 2016

Catch all the action from Serie A’s top teams as Juventus increased their lead to six points over Napoli.

ROME — Serie A clubs spent nearly 30 percent less on player agent fees in 2017 compared to 2016.

The Italian football federation released details on agent fees on Monday and the 20 Serie A clubs spent a total of €138 million last year compared to €193m the year before.

Six-time defending champion Juventus again led the way by spending €42m on agents, followed by Champions League semifinalist Roma with €23m.

AC Milan, who overhauled their entire squad, spent €21m, while Inter Milan made a drastic drop from the €23.4m they spent in 2016 to little more than €3.2m last year.

Promoted Spal were the only club not to break the million euro barrier, spending a league-low €98,750.

Serie A players, meanwhile, spent a total of €10.5m on agent fees.
