Bayern Munich have signed American teenager Taylor Booth from Real Salt Lake’s academy, the club announced on Thursday.
Booth, 17, will join the defending Bundesliga champions on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
“We see a lot of potential in Taylor. He is a talented young player, and we look forward to working with him to develop his talent further,” Bayern campus manager Jochen Sauer said on the team’s website.
Booth will join Bayern’s under-19s to start his career at the club.
“I’m very happy with this next step in my career,” said Booth. “FC Bayern is one of the largest clubs in the world. Being here in Munich at the FC Bayern campus and taking the next steps in my development makes me very proud. “
The central midfielder has been a regular in the United States youth setup, featuring from U16 level to U19. He was also a member of the U.S.’s 2017 U17 World Cup team in India.
Booth is the latest Bayern signing to join the club from an MLS side in the past year, joining Chris Richards and Alphonso Davies, who came from FC Dallas and the Vancouver Whitecaps, respectively.
