Strasbourg added to AS Monaco’s woes in Ligue 1 with a thumping victory on Saturday evening.
AS Monaco 1-5 Strasbourg
The woes worsened for struggling AS Monaco who went down 5-1 at the Stade Louis II to fifth place Strasbourg.
A brace from Ludovic Ajorque followed by efforts from Adrien Thomasson, Ibrahim Sissoko, Youssouf Fofana did the job for the visitors, while Radamel Falcao netted the only effort for Monaco.
Both sides ended the match with a man short after Naldo’s early dismissal for Thierry Henry’s side was followed by Stefan Mitrovic’s later transgression for the travelling side,
As a result, Monaco find themselves 19th position, three points adrift of safety.
Nimes 0-1 Toulouse
Nimes’ turn in fortunes were dented by Toulouse who plucked their wings with a 1-0 victory at the Stade des Costieres.
A first-half effort from Yaya Sanogo was all the visitors needed to separate the two sides.
Toulouse remain in 12th position, but Nimes missed the chance to go closer to the top-tier contingent.
Stade Reims 1-1 OGC Nice
Reims and Nice played to a 1-1 draw at the Stade Auguste-Delaune II in Saturday’s Ligue 1 action.
Nice needed a late penalty at the death by Remi Walter to cancel out Remi Oudiz first-half strike.
It’s a set back result for Nice who miss the chance to close the gap on the top six, while Reims remain in 10th spot.
