Real Madrid leading chase for River Plate’s Exequiel Palacios – agent

ESPN’s Ricardo Ortiz joins the FC crew to discuss how justice can be served following the violence outside El Monumental at the weekend.

After suffering an eye injury from attacks on the team bus, Boca Juniors captain Pablo Perez voices his concerns with the safety at El Monumental.

The FC crew urge action against fans responsible for violence that caused the postponement of the second leg of the Copa Libertadores final.

The agent of River Plate midfielder Exequiel Palacios has said several European clubs have contacted him regarding his client, but that Real Madrid have “gone the furthest.”

Madrid supporters will have the opportunity to see Palacios close up when he takes to the field for the rearranged Copa Libertadores final at the Bernabeu on Dec. 9, where River will face Boca Juniors.

And Renato Corsi, the 20-year-old’s agent, said a meeting between Los Blancos and River had been set up for after the second leg of the final, but the attack on the Boca bus which saw the match suspended meant the meeting did not go ahead.

“Inter, Roma, Wolfsburg have called us — many clubs are interested,” Corsi told AS. “But the team which has gone the furthest is Real Madrid.

“Due to the suspension between River and Boca, the sets of directors have not been able to meet yet. Real Madrid have behaved very well with us, as well as the club. The two clubs were in talks during the final, and they were due to continue after the second match.

“However, what happened happened and they didn’t speak. They will talk in Madrid in the coming days.”

Corsi also said that Barcelona had sent representatives to watch Palacios, but talks did not go past the initial stage.

“With Barca, we spoke briefly but nothing advanced,” Corsi said. “[Inter director Javier] Zanetti called me, but it did not reach the same stage as with Real Madrid.”
