Olympique Lyonnais coach Bruno Genesio praised his side’s tenacity in their hard-fought win over Nîmes Olympique on Friday while counterpart Bernard Blaquart lamented his team’s lack of a cutting edge.
Olympique Lyonnais 2-0 Nîmes Olympique
Bruno Genesio (Lyon coach): “It’s always difficult after the international break and before a Champions League game. It was again the case today because we had a lot of players missings and players who were playing for their country on Tuesday. It didn’t give them a lot of time to recover. So, I have to congratulate the plaeyrs, because they needed to be courageous and tenacious and we claimed three important points. Sometimes, it wasn’t what we wanted it to be, but you also have to be able to pick up points when it’s tough. We still needed a lot of chances to score, but we’re creating them and that’s the most important thing. But we’ll have to be more clinical if we don’t want to worry too much in games to come.”
Bernard Blaquart (Nîmes coach): “We’re disappointed, we created quite a few opportunities. We didn’t manage to score, it’s been a while now. It’ll come. Lyon were more clinical this evening. We play to ty and win matches. We attack a lot, but we haven’t scored in three games. You have to attack to score. We’ll keep going and try to find our way thorugh.”
