FC’s James Horncastle discusses whether or not Cristiano Ronaldo’s first game at Juventus lived up to all the hype.
Miralem Pjanic has signed a contract extension which will keep him at Juventus until 2023, the club confirmed on Tuesday.
Pjanic joined the Bianconeri from Roma in the summer of 2016 for €32 million and was entering the third season of his initial five-year deal.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, he will now earn €6.5 million per season, leaving him behind only Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala among the club’s highest-paid players.
“Since arriving prior to the 2016-17 season, Pjanic has become an increasingly-integral part of the Bianconeri midfield, providing pin-point passes across the pitch while firing free kicks into the back of the net with outstanding consistency,” read a statement on juventus.com.

“The Bosnia & Herzegovina midfielder displays class, intelligence and talent on the pitch both with and without the ball, though his offensive punch from midfield is certainly what stands out most.”
Since moving to Turin, he has become a regular starter in Juve’s central midfield, contributing 17 assists over the past two seasons and creating 120 chances.
Pjanic had been linked with a move away from Allianz Stadium this summer, with Manchester City and Barcelona reportedly interested in his services.
However, he has now decided to pledge the next five years of his career to Juventus.
