Newcastle United are €5m off Lille’s asking price for midfielder Thiago Maia, it has been claimed in France.
The Magies are keen to do business before the transfer window closes for Premier League clubs to make signings on 9th August.
They have an interest in landing Lille midfielder Maia and Les Dogues are willing to do business, on their terms.
According to French magazine Le 10 Sport, Newcastle have so far send a proposal for €20m to Lille, but the French side want €5m more to let Maia go.
It is claimed that discussions between the two clubs are continuing and a resolution could be found quickly.
Maia made 34 appearances in the French top flight for Lille last season, in what was a disappointing campaign for the club, with a 17th place finish.
Lille only signed Maia last summer from Brazilian giants Santos, paying €14m to take him to France.
Maia was handed a contract running until 2022 by Lille.
