Ligue 1 claims a ‘turning point’ with a brand new identity and commercial success

The League of Professional Football in France (LFP) has claimed a ‘turning point’ in the history of the top-tier of French football by unveiling a brand new identity of Ligue 1.

Ahead of the 2018-19 season, Ligue 1 Conforama will be associated with the slogan – “La Ligue Des Talents” or the “League of Talents.” The new branding will be used across Ligue 1 Conforama’s presence on television, web, social networks, press advertising.

LFP has said that the new catchline reflects its strength, its new status and its ambitions. The signature is also a recognition of the profusion, diversity and multiplicity of French football talents, in the field, around the field and off the field.

“The League of Talents” will be a common thread, a story that will guide the various actions of the LFP in terms of promotion or CSR and will result in a series of initiatives presented throughout the season, states the official release.

The statement from LFP further states that Ligue 1 is progressing from season to season, becoming an inexhaustible breeding ground for talent as well as attracting talent from around the globe.

LFP has also claimed a financial watershed moment, adding that the Ligue 1 has been able to sustain a healthy economic environment and enhance its competitiveness by attracting investors, attracting and retaining top talents as well as renowned coaches.

Ligue 1 is slowly closing the gap with other top European leagues following May’s announcement of its next set of domestic broadcast rights. LFP has secured a 60 per cent increase in value for the domestic rights to Ligue 1 through deals with Spanish agency Mediapro and pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports, with the agreements ending the status of pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus as the long-time home of the top-tier competition.

The agreements see Mediapro become the new major player in Ligue 1 broadcasting, with the LFP raking in $1.38 billion per season for the rights deal spanning four seasons 2020-21 to 2023-24. The current rights cycle, covering 2016-17 to 2019-20, generates a total of $874.2 million per season.
