Andres Iniesta announces he’s leaving Vissel Kobe

Andres Iniesta has announced he’s leaving Vissel Kobe.

Now 39, the former Barcelona captain intends to play on next season.

“I think we had always imagined that I would retire here, it was everyone’s wish,” said Iniesta.

However, the man from Fuentealbilla points out that he really wants to “continue playing” and “continue competing.”

The little prominence that he has had this season has been key in his decision: “The coach’s priorities are different, and I respect and accept that.”

This season Iniesta has barely played 85 minutes in five games.

“I have continued to work very hard, I have felt very good,” Iniesta commented on the last few months. “I would like to try to finish my career as a footballer playing on a football field and that part is now being difficult.

“I don’t know, I want to continue playing, I feel capable and excited to continue doing so, but closing this stage we will see what options there may be.”
