Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero says Lionel Messi will return to Newell’s Old Boys.
The French giants are desperate to keep the Argentinian in Paris, but face competition from Messi’s former club Barcelona, as well as MLS side Inter Miami, who are keen to bring him to the United States.
However, it now appears there’s another club in the race, with the 35-year-old’s first club Newell’s Old Boys a possibility – according to Aguero.
In an interview with UOL, Aguero claimed: “He is seriously considering the possibility of playing for Newell’s.”
The World Cup winner spent five years in the academy at Newell’s, and was also a ball boy for the club, before was snapped up by Barcelona and joined their famed La Masia academy.
However, Aguero’s reveal was quickly shot down by former Liverpool man Maxi Rodriguez, who added: “Kun is Kun. He can’t keep quiet. We will see.
“It is hard to talk about this because then a giant ball of rumours is made. Let’s wait and see what happens. We will not get ahead of the facts.:
