Uruguay and Barcelona at loggerheads over Araujo injury recovery

Uruguay and Barcelona are at loggerheads over the injury recovery of Ronald Araujo.

Tot Costa of Catalunya Ràdio claims that the Uruguayan centre-back will continue training with his national team in Qatar, to recover in time for the World Cup.

The defender underwent thigh surgery and initial reports suggested that he would miss the World Cup. However, he wants to accelerate his recovery to make the tournament.

Uruguay is willing to wait for him and the player wants to push hard to be able to be there. To do so, he will continue his recovery in Qatar, something that FC Barcelona are unhappy about. According to club sources, the Catalans believe that the best thing for the player is to stay in Barcelona to recover from his injury.

The centre-back, despite his operation, was included in Uruguay’s list for the World Cup. If he were to play, according to ‘Tot Costa’, it would be in pain and with the risk of a major relapse.
