Manchester United chiefs John Murtough and Richard Arnold are in Barcelona today for talks over Frenkie de Jong.
A deal between United and Barcelona has been agreed for almost a fortnight, but the move has stalled due to De Jong seeking a payoff for deferred wages over the past two seasons as the Catalans battled through financial difficulties.
The Manchester Evening News says Arnold and Murtough did not travel to Thailand for the first leg of United’s pre-season tour and new manager Erik ten Hag has identified De Jong as his priority target.
Sources in Spain have suggested Arnold and Murtough could meet De Jong as United approach a 10th week of discussions to sign the Netherlands international.
De Jong’s agent Ali Dursun was in Manchester last week to negotiate Tyrell Malacia‘s move from Feyenoord to United.
