Manchester United believe it is a matter of time before they sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie De Jong.
The Netherlands international is returning from holidays this week as United have submitted an improved offer with Barca to acquire his signature.
According to the Manchester Evening News, United club sources believe it is “a matter of when, not if” the deal is finalised.
New United manager Erik ten Hag is desperate to make De Jong his first signing at the club, having worked with the 26-year-old at Ajax.
United made an opening offer of €60m, but Barca want a guaranteed €75m (£64.55m), with add-ons.
Sources at Old Trafford have said the club are “negotiating hard” to reach an agreement with the La Liga giants.
