Barcelona sporting director Alemany insists Gavi wants to stay

Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany says Gavi wants to stay as new contract talks drag on.

Speaking ahead of the Catalans’ game win against Real Betis, Alemany gave a reassuring message to the Barcelona fans.

“Gavi wants to stay,” Alemany told Movistar.

“We have been negotiating for a long time so that he can stay at Barcelona for many years.”

Alemany feels Barcelona are well covered in the goalkeeper position, with Neto making a rare start at Betis.

“Neto is a great goalkeeper as is Ter Stegen,” he said. “The Brazilian has one more year on his contract.

“And we also have two young players like Arnau Tenas and Inaki Pena with whom we are very happy. It’s a position we have well covered.”
