Wolves winger Adama Traore is delighted with his return to Barcelona.
Traore has joined Barca on an initial loan with the view to a permanent deal.
Speaking at his homecoming presentation, the 26-year-old Spain international seemed excited to get started in his second spell at the club and feels he is returning a better player than the one who left for Aston Villa in 2015.
“I have been away for seven years, I will do all I can to make the Barcelona fans happy with me. I am happy to be back home and I hope to demonstrate my talents on Sunday,” said Adama.
“I have changed physically, I have gained experience but I have never lost that Barcelona essence.
“If the Adama today is the same as yesterday, that is a lost day. Getting better every day is really important to me.”
One way of looking at Adama’s return to the club he first joined as an eight-year-old, and which he seems to endorse, is that there are many routes to the first team. Some players go straight from the youth team to the first team, others need to spend time with the B team or leave on loan, and some, like Adama, perhaps need a few years away, before returning to take care of unfinished business.
“Sometimes you have to take a different path to reach the first team,” said Adama.
“I am really happy, excited and ready to help the in every way. Going back to the Camp Nou will be very special. I am coming back home.”
Adama, who has eight caps for Spain, offers Xavi versatility, able to play anywhere in attack or even as a wing back, but the Catalan has revealed that his new head coach wants him to play as a winger.
“He has asked me to take players on and score goals, like the other wingers,” said Adama.
“I have played on both wings, as a striker and as a wing back. I can play in various positions but the coach has said to me he wants me as a winger.”
