The pay-off needed to dismiss Ronald Koeman is keeping him in his job at Barcelona.
That’s according to El Pais, which is reporting it will cost Barca €12m to sack Koeman after last night’s Champions League defeat at Benfica.
Barca’s board are meeting today to consider their options, but it’s claimed the compensation Koeman would be owed makes any decision to part with the Dutchman impossible given the club’s financial situation.
Koeman’s current deal runs to June and a clause included states he will be due €6m in compensation should the contract not be renewed. This is the amount Koeman paid the KNVB to get out of his deal as Holland coach.
Koeman is now set to remain in charge for the weekend clash with Atletico Madrid.
