Barcelona players received a mixed reception from fans during the Joan Gamper Trophy defeat of Juventus.
Around 3,000 fans attended the pre-season event at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, but the annual match is taking place without the presence or Lionel Messi for the first time in 17 years.
Some players were given a hostile reception by fans, with Miralem Pjanic, Samuel Umtiti and Gerard Pique being booed as they took to the pitch.
Messi on the other hand, who bid farewell to the club in a press conference on Sunday afternoon, had his name chanted from the stands. Ronald Koeman and Messi’s close friend Sergio Busquets also mentioned the Argentine in their speeches.
“It’s been a very difficult year, a whole year without fans,” said Koeman.
“Despite the departure of Leo Messi, we’re really exciting by this new squad: with the signings and the young players who are the future of this great club.
“We’re sure that’ll we’ll bring you joy. With help, sacrifice and hard work we’ll achieve great things. We know what this club represents. Love live Barcelona and long live Catalonia.”
