Real Madrid players surprised by Barcelona rivals’ anger towards ref

Real Madrid players were surprised by the complaints of Barcelona after Saturday’s 2-1 win.

Gerard Pique, who hadn’t featured in the game, was seen complaining about the decision not to award a penalty when Martin Braithwaite went down after a slight tug on his arm from Ferland Mendy. He was also unhappy with the amount of time that was added on at the end of the 90 minutes.

Sergio Ramos and his Real Madrid teammates were surprised by the extent of Barcelona‘s anger, particularly as it continued into the tunnel and around the dressing room area.

Eyewitnesses spoke of “very bad manners” from some Barcelona players towards the referee.

Los Blancos don’t believe that Jesus Gil Manzano’s officiating had a significant influence over the result.
