The MLS All-Star Game Fan XI presented by Target will have a hometown feel.
Atlanta United fans turned out in force to vote six of their players into this year’s Fan XI, ensuring that they will be well-represented when Italian champions Juventus visit Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta for the 2018 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target on Aug. 1 (7:30 pm ET | ESPN, UniMás, TSN, TVAS).
The Atlanta contingent is headlined by 2018 Landon Donovan MLS MVP candidate Miguel Almiron and prolific goalscorer Josef Martinez, who has 14 goals to his name already in 2018. Defender Michael Parkhurst will join Almiron in making his second consecutive All-Star appearance as an Atlanta player, while midfielders Ezequiel Barco and Darlington Nagbe, as well as goalkeeper Brad Guzan round out the Atlanta players in the Fan XI.
LAFC are the only other team with multiple players in the Fan XI, with defender Laurent Ciman being joined by Mexican international Carlos Vela, who is currently representing his country at the World Cup. Vela was selected for the Fan XI via the EA SPORTS “More Than A Vote” contest, as EA SPORTS FIFA ’18 players scored over two million goals with Vela, more than any other MLS forward. The remaining representatives were all decided by fan voting on MLSsoccer.com.
LAFC’s city rivals, the LA Galaxy, are represented in the Fan XI by Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Sporting KC mainstay Graham Zusi and 2017 league MVP Diego Valeri of the Portland Timbers complete the selection.
Matchday Starting XI
MLS All-Star head coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino (Atlanta United), will select the starting XI from the pool of eligible players determined by the media as well as the 2018 MLS All-Star Game Fan XI presented by Target and MLS Commissioner Don Garber’s two selections.
