Barcelona presidential candidate Victor Font has taken aim at rival Joan Laporta.
Laporta has very much run on a campaign of returning Barcelona to the glory years, by keeping Lionel Messi and making sporting interests once again the forefront of Los Cules’ focus.
However, Font has made clear that despite all these promises and positive words, there has been little evidence of a plan to achieve it from Laporta.
“Laporta has not explained his project, he has merely surrounded himself with Barcelona assets,” Font explained.
“Many members will have voted by mail for Laporta without knowing how he will make sporting decisions, which is the most important thing.
“He doesn’t talk about Jordi Cruyff, who will take up positions of power? We have always given the names saying what each person will do, yet he wants people to vote in memory of a sextet from so many years ago, this situation saddens me.”
Barcelona‘s perilous fiscal position is also a key issue at this election, and Font pulled no punches when asked on how the club needs to move forward in a secure manner.
“There is a certain contradiction surrounding the economic amounts,” Font added. “It’s surprising that nobody is saying anything about that.
“We have to change many things at Barcelona, it’s necessary to join together and unite by putting the interests of the club first.”
