AS Monaco have completed the signing of a 16-year-old forward for a massive £17.5m (R315m) deal as the official replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to complete his permanent move to Paris Saint-Germain this month.

With Monaco poised to receive £158.3m (R2.8b)  for the permanent sale of 19-year-old Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint-Germain – they have begun their succession plans with their latest transfer.

Geubbels made two appearances in the French top flight last season and his Europa League debut along with becoming the first player born in the 21st century to play in Ligue 1.

The teenager, who is of Netherlands and Central African Republic descent has already been capped at U16, 17 and 18 level for France.

“The arrival of Willem Geubbels proves our ambition to develop the best talent in European football at our club,” director Vadim Vasilyev told the club’s official website. “With patience and work we are sure he’ll get to the top.”

Geubbels, who has immediately drawn comparisons to Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe due to his explosive style of play could not contain his excitement moving to the 2016/17 champions.

“I’m ready and really determined to help make great things happen.”

Monaco bought Martial from Lyon for £4.3m (R77m) in 2013 and sold him to Manchester United for around £61.6m (R1.1b) in 2015 when he was 19.
