Barcelona midfielder Pedri was delighted to score in victory at Athletic Bilbao.
Pedri starred again as Barcelona beat Athletic Club 3-2 on Wednesday, scoring the first goal for his side with a header and setting up the second for Lionel Messi.
“I had never scored a goal with my head in my life,” he told Movistar after the win. “I knew that Frenkie (de Jong) was going to fight for the ball and that if there was a rebound, I would be there. In the end, I got the goal.”
For Pedri, the key was the team’s reaction to going behind in the third minute: “We knew it was a really important game and that Athletic would look for Iñaki Williams’ pace. When they score so early, it’s normal to dip. We did the opposite. The team picked itself up and turned it around and got the three points.”
