Everton are unbeaten in their last three league games against Manchester United, with both matches last season ending 1-1. They last went four without defeat in this fixture in March 1990. Solskjaer has made four changes to United’s XI on the back of the loss in Istanbul. De Gea and Lindelof are brought in for Henderson and Tuanzebe, while Fred and McTominay are given the nod in holding midfield. That means Van de Beek again drops down to the bench, where he is joined by Matic and Pogba.
James and Pickford return to Everton’s starting line-up as two of six changes from the defeat to Newcastle. Holgate and Bernard begin their first Premier League game of the season and captain Coleman returns from injury, while Digne is back from suspension. Richarlison is serving the last of a three-game ban.

United have also lost successive games, going down 1-0 at home to Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend before a shambolic 2-1 reverse at the hands of Istanbul Basaksehir in the Champions League. However, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won each of their last six away games in the top flight.
After an impressive start to the campaign that saw them top the table, Everton have since lost back-to-back away games against Southampton and Newcastle United. Manager Carlo Ancelotti, incidentally, has not lost three league games in a row since November 2006 when at Milan.
