Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are both interested in a potential deal to sign Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, according to the player’s agent.

The Gunners are looking to improve their options in the middle of the park under new manager Unai Emery after a disappointing sixth-placed finish last term.

Switzerland Granit Xhaka has struggled to impress in the Gunners team, while Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere have both been linked with a potential exit this summer.

Tottenham, on the other hand, are looking to improve their squad depth ahead of a potential title challenge under Real Madrid target Mauricio Pochettino next term.

Sanson scored nine times and made two assists in 32 appearances in Ligue 1, while the midfielder netted one goal in 16 games in the cup competitions last term.

Marseille signed Sanson in a £10m deal from French club Montpellier in the 2017 summer transfer window but l’OM could make a serious profit on the the 23-year-old this summer.

His agent Michael Manuello confirmed that Arsenal and Tottenham are both keeping tabs on the French midfielder ahead of a potential summer swoop.

“Chelsea will not go any further, they are looking at other things,” Manuello told Foot Mercato.

“Tottenham are looking at Morgan – very much so. Arsenal are looking at him also, but I don’t know what Unai Emery will want.”

Tottenham finished in third place and 14 points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League table to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
