Barcelona have a deal in place for Lyon striker Memphis Depay.
Sport says there is an agreement between Barca and Depay about bringing him to the Nou Camp in January.
Depay will be inside the final six months of his OL contract and if they can make room by offloading an attacking player, Barca will be prepared to cough up a fee to convince Lyon to sell.
Depay and Lyon had agreed terms with Barca last month, but the deal had to be ‘parked’ due to the Catalans’ finances. However, it was agreed to revisit the transfer at Christmas.
For his part, Holland international Depay declared just last week, “I was quite close” to Barça and explained that “we don’t need to go into all the details, but there were certain rules that unfortunately prevented it”, alluding to bureaucratic problems at Barça regarding LaLiga rules in terms of wage ceilings.
Looking ahead, Depay continued: “Now I focus on Olympique de Lyon and I want to be important there again. Then we will see how things go afterwards.
“If I do my thing, the interest may still be there. I just have to flip the switch now.”
