Former Spain coach Javier Clemente has stepped into Quique Setien’s sacking by Barcelona this summer.
Setien was axed and replaced by Ronald Koeman at Barca after their 8-2 Champions League thrashing by Bayern Munich.
Clemente was critical of Setien when the then Real Betis coach took aim at Mauricio Pellegrino and the playing style of Leganes.
He told El Mundo: “Some time ago on Twitter I did have to criticise Setién because he had a horrible behavior against Pellegrino. And I do not tolerate disrespect towards another coach.
“Although it was not as bad as Barça. In Spain there is a lot of this: coaches who to thrive and make water to the press to say what they want to hear. I don’t judge Setién, everyone understands football as they want.
“I am simply against contempt for him who treats his fellow professionals like that. I don’t giggle because he was sacked, but Setién knows how football justice works.”
