Angel Di Maria has reportedly called Diego Simeone to offer himself to Atletico Madrid
Di Maria’s gametime this season was limited due to the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe
He joined the French outfit in 2015 following an unsuccessful season at Manchester United which failed to justify the £59.7million transfer fee the Red Devils paid Real Madrid.
But with the arrivals of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe last summer, Di Maria found his role limited this season although he did show glimpses of good form especially after Neymar got injured.
It is believed, though, he is keen to join former rivals Atleti, whose star man, Antoine Griezmann, is expected to leave the club after four years to join La Liga and Copa Del Rey champions Barcelona.
Simeone, therefore, will be keen to replace the Frenchman using the big money received from the departure and Di Maria looks to fit the bill.

Di Maria struggled in his one season at Manchester United after signing from Real Madrid
The Argentine coach is thought to be a big admirer of Di Maria, who could prove to be the link between midfield and attack.
Atletico finished second in La Liga this season, 14 points behind Barcelona but three ahead of rivals Real Madrid, and beat Marseille 3-0 in the Europa League final after finishing below Roma and Chelsea in the Champions League group stages.

PSG, meanwhile, won Ligue 1 by 13 points, despite failing to win their last four matches, won the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue but lost to eventual champions Real Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.
Di Maria was named in Argentina’s World Cup squad for this summer’s tournament in Russia as they seek to go one step further than they managed in 2014 when they lost to Germany in the final.
