Newcastle United are threatening Chelsea‘s plans for Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho.
Chelsea are in talks with Coutinho’s agent Kia Joorabchian and Barca about bringing the former Liverpool star back to England this summer.
However, Mundo Deportivo says the incoming owners at Newcastle United are also keen.
With the Magpies set for a £300million takeover by a Saudi-led consortium, the Tyneside club would be willing to match Barcelona‘s £110m price tag for Coutinho.
The attacking midfielder would be a flagship signing for new owners looking to establish Newcastle as a serious force in the Premier League.
In contrast, Chelsea have been pushing for an initial loan arrangement with the view to a permanent deal in June 2021.
