Barcelona great Xavi admits playing for Pep Guardiola inspired him to seek a coaching career.
The Al Sadd coach admits working with the Manchester City manager at Barca convinced him that he wanted to coach.
“It was like a master training with Guardiola. I was left with the ambition and the passion that he has. With wanting to be dominant, having the ball and being the protagonist,” said Xavi.
The Catalan also commented on Guardiola’s work with City.
“It is true that it cost him his first year because every style requires adaptation. But he was convinced that he was going to be successful,” he said.
On Sergio Aguero, Xavi added: “He made a leap in quality (with Guardiola) because he understood the importance of working for the team.”
He concluded: “I grew up at the Cruyff, Van Gaal, Rijkaard and Guardiola schools. If you have the ball, your opponent does not.”
