Barcelona sports chief Eric Abidal is weighing up a swoop for for AA Gent striker Jonathan David.
While deals for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez and PSG star Neymar to the tune of over €200m are being discussed, it hasn’t stopped Abidal from spying a bargain swoop for David.
The Canada international has impressed Barca scouts, says Mundo Deportivo, and Abidal believes they can snap up the youngster for €25m.
For his part, David would jump at the chance of a Barca move, having grown up idolising Ronaldinho.
Just this week, agent Nick Mavromaras declared: “Without a doubt, Jonathan is ready for the next step.
“Gent has boosted his career, the club has done a lot for him. I understand that they would like to keep him longer, but Jonathan wants to move on. The Belgian championship is fantastic for young players, but the time for the next stage is coming and it will come in the summer.”
