Two FC Dallas academy products set for training stint with Bayern Munich

FC Dallas has announced Homegrown Player defender Chris Richards and academy midfielder Thomas Roberts will visit Bayern Munich for a 10-day training stint as part of the partnership between Dallas and the Bundesliga giants sealed this February.

“This is a phenomenal opportunity for Chris and Thomas,” FC Dallas president Dan Hunt said in a statement. “Both of these players have bright futures and this experience with FC Bayern will give them great exposure to the sport on a global scale.”

The 18-year old Richards joined the FC Dallas academy last year and has started 14 matches for FC Dallas’ U-19s this season in USSDA play. The Alabama native also started all three matches for the U-19s in Dallas Cup. He signed a Homegrown contract with the club on Apr. 12 and will be eligible to be added to the first-team roster upon completion of his Homegrown eligibility requirements.

Roberts, 17, has five goals in 15 appearances for the FC Dallas U-19 academy side this season. The Arkansas native joined the FCD organization in the 2015-16 academy season.
