Leeds United fans excited by potential Massimo Luongo signing as QPR reveals he is for sale

The Whites supporters are positive about the possible acquisition of the green and gold midfielder

Leeds United fans have shown their excitement at the potential signing of Massimo Luongo, as Queens Park Rangers reveal the Australian international is for sale.

The 26-year-old’s possible transfer to Elland Road has been received positively by Whites supporters on social media, with the  $7 million-rated player also linked with a move to Nottingham Forest.

Luongo, who has spent the past four seasons at QPR, has been capped 43 times for the Socceroos, scoring six goals, while also being named player of the tournament at the 2015 Asian Cup.

The Socceroo midfielder’s club has publicly admitted the player is for sale with their current financial position and that his career could ‘kick on’ with a fresh start elsewhere.

“[Luongo’s] relatively young and has the opportunity to push on,” QPR director of football Les Ferdinand told The World Game.

“He has a year left with us but if he does go this (northern) summer he might be able to kick on a little bit more (elsewhere).

“There has been a bit of interest for Mass. We are a club that if the right offer comes in for one of our players – especially with the Financial Fair Play situation – we have to look at everything.”

QPR are looking to get themselves out of tight financial situation after having been found to have breached Financial Fair Play during their promotion season to the Premier League in 2014 – with a $76m settlement agreed with the English Football League as punishment.
