Rudan finally revealed as Western United coach

After months of speculation, Mark Rudan has been confirmed as new A-League side Western United’s inaugural coach.

Rudan departed Wellington Phoenix at the end of the season after an impressive first campaign in the A-League saw him guide the Nix to the finals. 

The former Sydney FC club captain decided against extending his stay in Wellington however, stressing a desire to be closer to his family.

Western United wasting no time to snap Rudan up and locking down the 43-year-old as their first coach. 

Prior to Rudan’s reveal, Western United have already signed a marquee player in the form of Panagiotis Kone and locked in John Anastasiadis and John Hutchinson as assistant coaches.

United’s arrival in the A-League next season will see the regular season cut to 26 rounds but be extended over 29 weeks to allow for byes.
