Hansi Flick wants to add a recently retired player to his staff at Barcelona.
Flick is set to be confirmed new coach of Barca after Friday’s sacking by Xavi.
AS reports that Flick, and in particular Barcelona‘s sporting director Deco, also wants to strengthen the leadership staff – with players who are still active.
Javi Martínez, 35, who played for Bayern Munich when Flick was a coach there, is one of the names on the German’s wish list.
The Spanish midfielder is still active – currently with Qatar SC.
Thiago Alcántara, 33, is also on Barcelona‘s list. Liverpool confirmed earlier in May that the midfielder will leave this summer.
In the case surrounding Thiago, Barcelona have already contacted the player – but the midfielder has not yet given any notice that he is ending his career.
Finally, Flick is also interested in bringing in Marc Bartra, 33, to the management staff. The centre-back currently plays for Real Betis – where he is on an expiring contract.
