Real Madrid midfielder Kroos: Winning title as Barcelona lost was doubly good

Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos admits they enjoyed winning the LaLiga title with Barcelona losing on the day.

As Real won at Cadiz, Barca were getting beaten at Girona on the same day.

Kroos said: “We won our game and, when Barcelona went 2-1 up, I was going to go home, but everyone told me to stay. 5 minutes later they lost 4-2. We were all eating hot dogs. Not leaving was a great decision.

“It was all quite crazy because Girona could have also gone 7-2 ahead. We celebrated a little, but not too much.

“It is once again the feeling of having achieved something great. However, the season was so clear that it took away some of the emotion at the end. It is clear that, if I had been able to paint it, I would have preferred not to experience it in front of a TV.

“But it doesn’t matter, combining it with a defeat for Barça was doubly good.”
