Former Manchester City striker Wim Kieft expects Santiago Gomez to leave Feyenoord this summer.
The Mexico international is being linked with Arsenal and Barcelona, among several European giants.
Kieft told De Telegraaf: “The management of Feyenoord will gradually start to worry about Gimenez with a view to a lucrative transfer. Not only is he dry for a long time – his average goals in comparison to his scoring drive in the first half of the season – he is also hardly involved in the game and in goals from fellow players.”
According to the Amsterdam analyst, Gimenez will not yield 40 to 50 million euros.
“Although the crazy thing about it on the transfer market remains: Feyenoord will not collect these amounts. You will have to show yourself in a European context and Gimenez has not done enough of that. It is an advantage for clubs from Spain that he is Spanish-speaking and an international for Mexico, but the Spanish sub-top does not pay those extreme amounts,” said Kieft.
