Barcelona great Gerard Pique has urged the board to come clean with the fans.
Pique says it’s clear Barca do not have the finances to “compete” and instead will need to focus on talent from the La Masia academy.
The Andorra president told Ibai Llanos on Twitch: “If the reality of the club is that there is ‘not a penny’, it must be said. You cannot sell smoke and say that we are going to win the Champions League and then there is no money to compete.”
Pique insists it is not worth selling false hope to Barca fans.
He also stated that it makes no sense to talk about signing Erling Haaland. For him, the solution should be to bet “two or three years with La Masía players”.
“We are going to trust the people of La Masía, who are very good people and very talented. Let them work hard and we will try to compete to win La Liga with them,” said Pique.
