Barcelona chief Deco insists he’s not seeking to sell any of their top players.
It’s been suggested Barca must cash in to ease their financial concerns and fund their own signing plans.
But Deco told Radio Cataluyna: “The idea is not to sell to anyone. On the contrary, the idea is to try to strengthen, we don’t need a lot of things. If we can, improve, but not sell. I count on everyone… Frenkie, Pedri, Araujo, Gavi… they are players looking at the present and the future. They have to be there for more years. There is an important base to compete: Raphinha, Ferran… I wouldn’t sell anyone.”
On the frustration of Frenkie de Jong, he also said: “We are not going to speak publicly about the conversations with the agents. He is human, he gets angry if something is said that does not correspond to the truth. I think he is happy. But if I am Frenkie or Araujo, I want to win.
“It’s good that he’s worried about winning. He wants players who want to win at Barça, not who want to play at Barça. Let’s hope he wants to stay for many years. Nobody has told me that his salary cannot be paid for fair play.”
