Udinese winger Gerard Deulofeu has cast doubt on his playing future.
The former Barcelona, Everton, Watford and AC Milam star has struggled with injury for the past year.
Deulofeu said on Jijantes: “I can’t do what I like and I’ve been out for more than a year now. I’m happy to have achieved a balance off the field at a family level, which helped me stay focused otherwise I could have fallen into depression.”
On the injury and recovery time he added: “I can’t talk much because we have an agreement with the club. It’s a real ordeal and you can’t imagine what I’m going through. I’m trying to recover in every way, but I’ve accepted the idea that I may never recover.
“For several months I have known that I may never play again. I am preparing for what could come next, because the footballer’s career ends in an instant.”
