Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo insists the players have no influence on coach Xavi’s future.
Xavi is again under pressure after their Copa del Rey quarterfinal defeat at Athletic Bilbao last night.
Araujo later said: “Xavi’s future depends on the board, we cannot intervene. But believe me, we are very happy with the coach.
“He has helped us a lot and we want him to stay.
“People here always push, but I’m left with the fact that we compete. We showed character, but we needed to be a little smarter in extra time because there was a minute left in the first half.
“This is a hard blow because we were eliminated, but the team has to keep fighting. We have the LaLiga, we have the Champions League with the tie against Napoli, and we have to continue. There are two titles left and we are going to fight until the end for the shirt.”
