Barcelona coach Xavi says Pau Cubarsi could make today’s matchday squad against Real Betis.
The 16 year-old defender made his debut in last week’s Copa del Rey win at Unionistas.
Xavi said: “H’s a very good option. He’s prepared. The other day he came out with some pressure and did very well. He played with great personality.
“We have many hopes for the future and present.
“There’s a lot missing, what’s missing the most but I’ve already counteracted it. I suppose the Catalans, the club, the history… People say oops oops but I see the Betis and Athletic match as an opportunity. We accept the level of demand but positivity is often lacking.
“We are playing with kids 16, 17 and 18 and they have also given me beatings for that. That’s why I say we are building.
“Failure would be not trying.”
Xavi also had a positive word for Ferran Torres.
“I can say that he embodies what a strong footballer is. Here on a daily basis they make you feel small, that you are worthless. It doesn’t matter if you are a player, press officer, doctor, coach… I spoke with Ferran in the summer and I thought he would change. Okay, positive. He embodies what a Barça footballer should be.”
