Medical expert raises career fears for Barcelona crock Gavi

There are fears Barcelona midfielder Gavi’s knee injury could be career threatening.

The midfielder broke down yesterday in Spain’s Euro qualifying win against Georgia. It’s since been announced Gavi has snapped his ACL and damaged his meniscus.

Dr Luis Ripoll, a traumatology specialist and FIFA consultant, told Onda Cero today: “Gavi could be forced to stop for seven-eight months.

“If, however, the meniscus is also involved, especially the external one, his entire career could even be put at risk.” Ripoll also contradicted the words of coach Luis de la Fuente, who in the press conference had spoken of an injury unrelated to the tackles he received from his opponents.

“For me it broke after that tackle by (Luka) Lochoshvili,” declared the doctor.
