Barcelona loan manager Krkic: We must be careful about pushing youth teamers too quickly

Barcelona loan manager Bojan Krkic has questioned the wisdom of having the club’s young players skip development levels.

Lamine Yamal and Marc Guiu have both featured for the first team this year with little preparation with Barca Atletic.

Bojan told AS: “I don’t know if that’s the case, but before it was unthinkable that things like this would happen. We gave more importance to promotions in grassroots football than anything else.

“Going from infant to cadet, to youth… When you were going to train with the reserve team as a youth you were already nervous and you didn’t sleep the night before.

“A 15-year-old boy already wants to go to train with the reserve team and the 16-year-old boy wants to go to train with the first team, we are normalizing something that is not normal.

“Things of the new times. There is a lot of talent and in general there is even a level in Japan and the United States. Before it was not so global.”
